I’m going home this weekend, in more than once sence of the word!
I’m staying with my parents while attending this years 24-7 Prayer conference “Home”. So a few minutes before I head down there what are my expectations?
Well it will be great to catch up with friends first of all. It’s been a couple of months since transit finished, and not much has happened since in terms of Boiler Room. I’m hoping that this will be a spark that will reignite what we’re doing in Egham and Staines and beyond. I’m praying for divine connections with others, for a time of reinvigerating and excitment for 24-7 and prayer, and some good laughs and good teaching along the way.
I’ll post some thoughts on how it’s gone at the end of the conference. I’ll also bring you up to date on what’s been going on over the summer…..

This report on the Noise project came in from Dave Food. Thanks to everyone who was involved in the day and in praying leading up to it.
On Saturday the 24th of May Young people and students from Royal Holloway College and Young people from Churches and youth groups in the Egham, Egham Hythe and Englefield Green completed 9 projects around the area.
Over 60 people cleared garages and sheds, cleared a number of gardens and painted anything that stood still walls, benches and fence panels.
Thanks goes to those involved in helping making it happen, team leaders, Abigail Trickey and Tim Sudworth for hosting the launch event at St Johns on Friday Night, to John Brannan who helped me co-ordinate all the resources and projects today and Anna Hope who organised a celebration of all we had done this evening.
There are many tired bodies tonight as all the workers go to their beds, there are van loads of rubbish to go to the tip, it will take days. (If any one wants to help please get back to me)
Thanks particular goes to the local Police who came and joined us again this year, John got on his knees to make a difference, Carol got covered in paint. Also thank you to all those who donated materials The Runnymede refuse team, The Egham police, Sainsbury’s, Starbucks, Homebase, Halls, but particular thanks goes to the local Churches who really made this happen, St Johns Egham, United Church of Egham, Runnymede Christian Fellowship, The Journey, Hythe Community Church and Englefield Green Methodist Church.
Final thanks again goes to the Young people themselves who made some Noise.

Easter 17 March 2008

It’s all too easy to let easter sail by without really noticing it. Most of the things around us don’t cause us to stop and think, if anything everything around us tries to stop us from doing so. The long weekend has turned into a chance to do DIY, to eat lots of chocolate and enjoy not working for a couple more days.
But this is Easter. This is a celebration of the most important event to happen in the history of the world. Jesus, the son of God, crucified so that the world might be reconciled to God.
There is such a richness within Church tradition of reflection and participation in this key week that somehow we have managed to lose over the past one hundred years.
I want to encourage you to take some proper time to reflect on scripture and to get involved in something different which will help you to mark out this weekend as more than just a short holiday. There are all sorts of things going on.
As a Boiler Room Community we will be connecting with the Community of St Jude over the weekend, joining them for their passover meal on the Thursday night and a prayer vigil. Friday they will be taking a wooden cross out into the streets around Earls court and offering to pray with anyone around. Saturday they will be watching Children of Men as a reflection on a world without God. Sunday there will be an Easter Sunday meeting sharing in the joy of the resurrection. Tom and Jo are very keen for anyone to join them, but they need numbers for the passover meal asap.
Whatever you do, take some time to reflect on Easter.
Prayer Week Starts Monday 28 February 2008

The next prayer week is almost upon us.
I bought 17 metres of purple material yesterday, people have been painting, praying and planning in preparation and on Saturday the room will be transformed into a reflective tour through lent and Easter. Please sign up for an hour slot. I’m sorry we don’t have any means for online sign-up (if anyone can help us with this do get in touch), but you can sign up by replying to this, putting a wall post on facebook or dropping me an email. Equally go along to the methodist church on Victoria Street, Englefield Green, and sign up there.
Everyday there will be led prayer at 8am and a simple meal and prayer at 7pm.
